Tech mobility startup Ascent has introduced on-demand flights on its helicopter ride-sharing platform, in a bid to develop air travel and enable users to skip the traffic gridlock and access remote locations in the Philippines.
For the first time, Ascent users can instantly purchase helicopter flights by the seat and by the route at their own time directly from the platform. This unique feature makes it more convenient for Ascent users to skip the traffic and access business and leisure destinations in a matter of minutes, which ultimately enables users to regain control of their time, according to Ascent Chief Executive Officer Lionel Sinai-Sinelnikoff.
Due to the grueling traffic situation in Metro Manila, companies like Ascent, are finding more opportunities to ease commuters’ pain points by leveraging on the steady rise of the on-demand economy in the Philippines. On-demand economy is defined as the activity brought about by digital technology to fulfill consumer demand via immediate and convenient access to goods and services.
“Apart from providing helicopter flights up to a tenth of a cost more affordable than regular charter flights, we aim to further contribute to the democratization of urban air mobility through offering seamless on-demand flights on our platform,” said Sinai-Sinelnikoff.
Users can book their on-demand flights and choose from a roster of listed locations by logging on to Ascent’s digital platform. They can also complement their journey by availing of value-added services including luggage transport, first and last mile ground transport and fast track amongst other services, directly from the platform.
Ascent has also started offering individual and corporate packages, which can be used across all of Ascent’s solutions, with preferential rates and services. In time for the holiday season, it is also offering bespoke flight packages that users can purchase for their employees, clients, and partners.
The startup expects various types of commuters to avail of its on-demand service, such as companies in need of cost-effective solutions to transport time-sensitive business travelers, their guests or partners, individuals seeking to regain control of their time towards, cutting more business deals, enjoying more moments with their family or leisure, and tourists looking to live unique experiences.
Since its launch in April, Ascent has grown its network of routes significantly and currently covers more than 12 activity hotspots in Luzon including the Ninoy Aquino International Airport, Makati City, Bonifacio Global City, Quezon City, Ortigas, Pasay, Clark, Subic, Batangas, and Tagaytay. These locations serve to provide a more seamless and cost-effective option of airport transfers, business commutes and getaways by helicopter.
Ascent plans to serve more destinations in Luzon, and eventually expand to more locations in Visayas and Mindanao. Currently, it is also exploring other markets in Southeast Asia.
