
Converge ICT Solutions Inc. said it has the most consistent fixed internet performance in five regions in the country, while Globe Telecom Inc. ‘s performance in 4G availability, speed and video experience has been consistently improving in the first quarter.
Ookla Speedtest Intelligence data for Q1 2021 shows the average download speeds of Converge is at 42.93 Mbps in Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Ilocos and the Cordillera Administrative Region, which is representative of actual plans subscribed to by its subscribers.
“Our network performance in the first quarter reflects our focus in providing reliable high-speed internet services to our customers in their standard packages, which subscribers of other providers only enjoy on a promotional basis via their speed boosts,” Dennis Anthoty Uy, chief executive of Converge said.
Based on analysis by Ookla, Converge ICT garnered a Consistency Score of 72.78 percent. Consistency Score measures what percentage of a provider’s samples equals or exceeds both a download and upload fixed threshold of 25 Mbps download and 3 Mbps upload.
Globe , on the other hand, said 4G coverage, speed and video experience have been consistently improving due to its aggressive cell site builds .
Based on the April 2021 report of international analyst firm, Opensignal, Globe’s 4G Availability scored 82.6 percent, up 2.2 percentage points, causing Smart’s lead to drop by nearly 30 percent from 5 percentage points to 3.6 PPTs.
Globe’s Video Experience score also advanced by an impressive 15.4 point improvement, reducing Smart’s lead by more than half compared to the last report. The report also noted the company’s Download Speed Experience improvement of 16.4% from 7.4 Mbps to 8.6 Mbps.
“Our continuously improving performance in mobile and data services shows our strong commitment to deliver on our promise of a first world network. The steady improvements significantly reduced the gaps in speed such that, from a user standpoint it is hardly noticeable.,” Ernest Cu, Globe president and chief executive said.
